| Suntar 2.0.5 | |||
| Description | The ".tar" is a Unix-based compression format, and stands for "tape archive." It is the only format on this list that DropStuff/Expander does not handle. suntar is a freeware utility written by Sauro and Gabriele Speranza that will compress and expand .tar archives. It's an excellent program, but not one for the faint of heart, since it relies very heavily on a Unix-like console interface. If you can get past the interface, it's a powerful program with some very nice features, not the least of which is the ability to encode and decode MacBinary, BinHex, and uu files. The learning curve is steep, though, so pack a lunch. | ||
