Do you provide dial-up service?
With major companies providing dialup services such as AT&T, MCI, Netcom, AOL etc., we felt we should concentrate on providing
FAST web hosting services. Therefore, PhutureNet does not provide dial-up services. One of the major advantages to not sharing
our connection with modem users is the fact that nearly all the bandwidth we offer (10 megabit) is reserved for serving your web
documents. If your looking for a local Internet Service Provider to provide modem dialup service, we suggest looking for one in
The List.
How long have you been around as a company? Should I trust you?
PhutureNet is a small web presence provider who opened it's doors officially 1st August, 1996.
We intend to make a major mark in the web hosting business in the future.
The question is really, should you trust PhutureNet. We think you should. The risk is relatively low, and the reward is great service for a great price.
We are very proud of our company and the service we provide to our customers, feel free to contact any of our
business customers or personal customers
and ask them how they like our service. Our customers are our best salesman!
What's your policy on adult sites?
PhutureNet will not host sites judged by us to be adult in content.
With the current state of flux in privacy law and copyright law, we no longer feel it is an appropriate business opportunity for PhutureNet,
nor is in keeping with our business mission.

Do you support CGI forms, Java applets, Shockwave, real time audio?
If your data you want to serve uses MIME extensions, you shouldn't have any problems serving them through your web pages.
Such as VRML, real audio, quicktime, etc. work fine on our server.
Specific CGI programming and/or testing can be done to setup your account with some limited cgi functionality on a 'custom' basis.
Our minimum charge is $85/hour to test your cgi and make sure that major security holes are plugged and system resources will not
be affected adversely.
Is it possible to install a unique FTP server?
We only offer private FTP accounts to transmit your web documents to/from your directory.
We don't provide anonymous FTP accounts for security reasons.
Can you configure your server so that I can name my default page "mypage.html"?
We support home.html, home.htm, index.html, index.htm as defaults.
But we suggest that if you want your directories to have clean URL's you name an index.html page in each sub directory of your web site.
For example: http://www.the-future.com/john_doe/travel would be an index.html page in the travel sub directory in john_doe's main directory.
Otherwise, the page would have to be called out like http://www.the-future.com/john_doe/travel/mypage.html which is kind of sloppy, but still
functional. It's up to you.
Can I sublease, sell or give away PhutureNet's web space to other people once my account is setup?
If the intention of your account with us is to charge or profit from selling or subleasing or giving away PhutureNet's server space,
your account will be cancelled immediately.
When you say unlimited space and I see other people offering so little server space at a high cost,
I can't help wondering if your service is real.
Yes, I can understand. We are playing the odds that most people's sites are going to average out at X mb in file size.
We also think that most people's sites will use up X % of our bandwidth. There certainly will be the exceptions to this theory,
but we think it's a practical solution to get a lot of people on the web, for a small investment.
How easy is it to use a web account ? Do I have to be a 'UNIX guru' ?
Not at all. You can use your web account using a few simple software programs for your Windows or Macintosh PC.
